How can the media be used to help solve cold cases?
- You will be using everything you have learned in forensics to analyze, discuss and justify a cold case crime.
- Your final product will be a video investigation report, similar to "60 Minutes", "20/20" or a documentry for your investigation into the cold case.
- In your group, you will have a witness, a forensics investigator (lab), forensic investigator (on the scene) and a news reporter.
- You will need to recreate the crime scene (not the crime). It can be in the form of a model or in an acrual, life size room.
- You need to investigate the following questions:
- Why was the crime not solved?
- What would the investigation team need to do next in order to solve the crime?
- What went wrong with the investigation?
- What was happening in the world when the crime occurred?
- What was happening in the world when the trial happened (if it went to trial)?
- Is there existing technology that today that they did no have then, that could help solve the crime?
- What technology can be "tweaked" that can help solve the crime?
